Sawtooth Mountain
Sawtooth Mountain Park
Long known as the largest downhill ski area in the Midwest, Lutsen has become the premier summer mountain adventure park in Mid-America as well. Lutsen's Sawtooth Mountain Park is tucked into the ancient Sawtooth Mountain Range that anchors the coast of Lake Superior along North Shore. Unique in the Midwest, this is a true mountain range, born of volcanic uprising millions of years ago which formed the dramatic escarpments and rugged terrain that now loom 1,000 feet above the coastline. And unique among parks in Minnesota, the Sawtooth Mountain Park combines the rugged, wild character of this land with an infrastructure that allows visitors to interact with the mountain environment in a myriad of ways.
The Sawtooth Mountain Park at Lutsen sprawls across roughly 1,000 acres of this incredible mountain terrain. Within it, you'll find Hiking Trails, Mountain Bike Trails, the Alpine Slide and the North Shore Mountain Tram each providing a unique approach to enjoying the North Shore mountain community. From a quiet sightseeing ride, to leisurely picking wild strawberries along a scenic hiking trail, to a heart-pounding ride on the region's most technical mountain bike trails, there are activities for everyone.
